Shark Myths Busters – A New Age Has Come
Somewhere in the Eastern Pacific Ocean – April 2011
A picture is worth a thousand words. Moving pictures are worth a million words.
This behind-the-scenes footage was captured by Pierre Frolla while him, William Winram and Fred Buyle were working on a documentary about Great White Sharks (Carcharodon carcharias) in November 2009.
As you will see, these three divers are on a breath-hold, swimming freely with the animals. It is during this expedition that a world-first was realized: placing tracking devices (acoustic and satellite tags) on the Great White Sharks for the purpose of documenting their behaviour.
Indeed, ignorance of these creatures and the sea in general has led men to abuse our greatest source of replenishment: the oceans.
It is the hope of these Watermen that footage such as this one will turn the common misunderstanding of sharks into interest and respect for these animals who are paramount to our survival.
